Agenda includes: talking about the importance/hallmarks of a good SCA, managing the budget/explaining the budgets and how it works, services recipients can access with their budget, hiring family and loved ones/friends if preferred, discussing the importance of understanding the CAT assessment so it is an accurate reflection the budget needed to fully support individuals, discussing the difference between CCP/Supports Programs, waitlists, etc, discussing housing subsidies/eligibility and how to obtain one with your Support Coordinator and giving a comprehensive, overall description of what DDD offers and how to navigate the system with your Coordinator. The presenter is Shawn Arpaio, Owner and Founder of Abilities First, LLC. Shawn has worked as a Job Coach for Adults with Developmental Disabilities, a Vocational and Career Counselor for young adults at The Edison Job Corps Academy, a Care Manager for the CMO for Children with Developmental Disabilities on the children’s side and as Support Coordinator for many years before founding and opening Abilities First Support Coordination Agency. Shawn brings a wealth of knowledge about DDD services and the dedication, compassion and resourcefulness needed to help others achieve their goals.
